Maybe you have already seen one of those advertisements where someone recommends a certain workout for your midsection, your abs, or the latest fitness gadget, or for example certain gadgets for training your abs. And then there are things like belly belts or electrostimulation (EMS) for the abdomen.
Yes, all of these may help a little, but I can promise you one thing – they are not the solution. I never do abdominal training, really never, and I don't diet either. I eat what I want, but I got a six pack all year round. Your abs consist of a couple more muscles than just the well-known six-pack and once your body fat level is low enough you can even see those muscles. The shot was not the result of any special preparation either. For photos like this, people starve themselves for months to get into top shape and what´s more for the shooting folks go all the way to get rid of any water retention, cause more or less water underneath the skin makes a huge difference. For a bodybuilder that´s a real hassle and makes a lot of prep work necessary for weeks. But don´t get fooled if that should make you believe that the products or workout plans they advertise will make you look the same way. You can safely assume that 99.9% of what you see is fake.
I mean, what sense does it make anyways to look like that for a day? So even the tough dieting, most folks won´t tell you about anyways is bullshit. If you want to spend money on electrostimulation, invest in fancy equipment, well, go ahead, but you can really save yourself the expenses and all the trouble. It's your decision whether you want to take a path where you're constantly fighting the pounds, or change your genetics to become naturally slim. Electrostimulation, for example, is absolutely a step in into the wrong direction, and the reason is simple: If you do your workout, then it´s you that´s working out and it goes like this: Your brain is sending a signal that leads to muscle contraction, so the mind leads, the body follows and that´s the basic mechanism how the mind-body connection works. But that´s just the basic mechanism, there is much more to that. No let´s consider you are using such an EMS. Now it´s no longer your brain, that´s sending out that signal, but a machine. Welcome to the new world. You are on the path of letting machines take over. Congrats on that one. But you are forgetting about your training of the mind-body connection, and as I said, doing your workouts the regular way, mustering motivation and pumping out that last reps, that gives you only a slight touch of what you can do with your mind-body connection. But you are not even using that, training that. You are leaving this part, that should be central to your workout, and I mean really going into that, working on that, to frigging machine. What a waste! Cause if you work on that capability, increasing your potential to steer your body with your mind, you are walking on a path, where at some point, you can tell your body, your muscles to grow, mostly with your mind. Okay, that´s advanced stuff. But one of the easiest things is, to tell your body to loose excess fat, to get slim, and even ultra slim if you want. If you focus on working on your mind-body connection you will find that an easy task. But using EMS, you are heading the opposite direction.
Yeah, there´s a lot of misleading advice out there, and of course, and I am well aware, that there are many reasons, the marketing guys give you, why that stuff should be good for you. Recommendations to buy stuff, that no one really needs, like abdominal muscle machines or EMS. But the holy grail, the solution, is already within you – you just need to awaken it, activate it. Train your body with your mind and your mind with your body! Your shape, your body is much more a product of your mind than you might think.
